Can Acupuncture Relieve Fibromyalgia?
A recent study done by the Mayo Clinic indicates that acupuncture reduces the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is a disease characterized by chronic, widespread pain over many parts of the body along with additional symptoms such as fatigue, stiff joints and disturbed sleep.
The Mayo Clinic study included 50 fibromyalgia patients in a randomized controlled test to see if acupuncture improved their symptoms. In the study, those patients who received acupuncture improved significantly compared to the control group.
My own experience is that acupuncture can, indeed, be helpful in reducing fibromyalgia symptoms. When combined with certain dietary changes and specific, individualized herbal formulas, the results are even more dramatic.
